Tarapur Atomic power station a largest electricity producer nuclear power plants in India which features two boiling water reactor and two pressurized heavy water reactor with power output capacities of 160 and 540 megawatt electric respectively with a capacity to produce 1400 megawatt. The plant facility is operated and managed by the nuclear power corporation of India Ltd. and it is located in Tarapur, Maharashtra. Plant construction was commenced in year 1962 and it started functioning in 1969.

Kalpakkam is a home to India’s first naturally placed nuclear power station which houses two units of pressurized heavy water reactors of 220 megawatt electric capacity each. Madras Atomic Power Station has a facility for fuel reprocessing, waste treatment which includes plutonium fuel fabrication for use in fast breeder reactors and nuclear power production.

Construction for the plant started in the year 1984 and works under the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd.
